Twenty years as a computer engineer in the AI industry have shown me how our technological creations—our AIs and robots—evolve: first machines, then language models, now agents—and, sooner than we may be ready for, sentient, superhuman beings. A second career in meaning-oriented psychology has shown me what we, as consumers, stand to lose—and what we, as human beings, could gain—if we were to embrace change and make wise use of the results. My novels explore these possibilities—they ask how our values and our understanding of faith, love, and truth will change when our creations begin to surpass us, without us, in turn, rising above ourselves.
