About me

I have lived three careers and followed one question through all of them: what makes us human, and what could we become?
For more than two decades I was a computer engineer: AI systems engineer, CTO of a New Zealand software start-up, and business performance and quality consultant, working in California, Texas, Singapore, New Zealand and across Europe. I hold an academic background in computer science and business administration. My first book, on quality management in IT, was published by Hanser in Munich.
My second career took me into meaning-oriented psychology. After years of training in psychotherapy, body therapy and coaching, I became a trainer, lecturer and mentor for human development, drawing on humanistic psychotherapy, Viktor Frankl's search for meaning, systems thinking, Spiral Dynamics and systemic coaching.
Today I write novels and poems about humanity, faith and progress. I was desperate about the fact that humans haven't really evolved since becoming human: we are still egocentric beings driven by our survival instincts, unable to solve the great challenges of our time together. Fiction is where I ask what could change that.
I am a spiritual agnostic with some experience of Buddhist retreats, and I love cooking, cycling and sailing. I live in Hamburg and Alicante.
